Zhuangzi was a native of the Sung state 宋國人during the Spring and Autumn period and had been a minor official of Lacquer Garden in a small district. His ideas and teachings originated in those of Laozi. His ideas and teachings were contained in his Nanhua True Canon which was lengthy ten thousand more characters organized in 33 chapters. The king of the Choh state heard of his talents and tried to offer the status of minister of the state. He flatly refused and preferred to enjoy his leisurely and wandering life.
“Under heaven there is nothing greater than the tip of an autumn down, and the Taishan (Mount Tai) is small. There is no one more long-lived than a child which dies prematurely, and Peng Zu did not live out his time. Heaven, Earth, and I were produced together, and all things and I are one”
"天下莫大於秋豪之末,而大山為小;莫壽乎殤子,而彭祖為夭。天地與我並生,而萬物與我為一。"
